Senior Java Software Engineer

Perm role paying up to $190k plus super

Fully remote but must reside in either Sydney or Melbourne

Our client is a dynamic, product-driven scale-up. As we scale, we need a strong Senior Backend Java Developer to architect, build, and optimize our microservices and API ecosystem. What You’ll Do

• Architect & Develop: Design and implement scalable backend solutions using Java, Spring Boot, and microservices architecture.
• API Design: Build RESTful APIs that power our product ecosystem, ensuring efficiency, security, and scalability.
• Solution Design: Work closely with product and frontend teams to define and execute robust backend solutions.
• Optimize & Scale: Ensure system reliability, performance, and scalability as we expand our customer base.
• Security & Best Practices: Implement best practices for authentication, security, and compliance.
• Cloud & DevOps: Work with AWS/GCP/Azure, Docker, Kubernetes, and modern CI/CD pipelines.

What We’re Looking For

• 10 + years of backend development experience with Java & Spring Boot.
• Strong expertise in microservices architecture and event-driven design.
• Proficiency in RESTful API design (GraphQL experience is a plus).
• Solid database knowledge (PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or similar).
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud platforms.
• Strong problem-solving mindset and ability to work in a fast-paced, agile environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain server-side applications using Java and associated technologies.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into technical specifications.
• Build and maintain scalable and efficient backend systems that support web applications.
• Write high-quality, testable code, following industry best practices and coding standards.
• Conduct code reviews to ensure consistency, efficiency, and adherence to best practices.
• Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve production issues in a timely manner.
