Senior Backend Engineer

Your mission

We are looking for a senior engineer to strengthen our team and help develop and implement new features. This is a highly impactful role, you will be in charge of a variety of systems that directly impact customer experience and helps people on their personal health journey. This is a hybrid role, based in Berlin.

The Role

The role is based in Berlin and ideal for someone who enjoys balancing in-person collaboration with remote focus. Our hybrid work model means we're typically in the office a couple of days per week. Please note that to be considered for this position, candidates must have a valid work authorization for Germany and either currently reside in Berlin or be willing to relocate without company sponsorship, and must already hold valid German work permission.

Your Responsibilities

• Design and develop scalable and resilient solutions across the entire product offering
• Design and build our APIs
• Work closely with the rest of the product organization to support our customers and community
• Continuously improve our codebase, systems, and processes
• Help define our processes, tech stack and system architecture
  
  

Your profile

• Experience in API development (RESTful) and event driven services.
• Proficiency with Node.js, Typescript and any other prominently used programming languages (bonus points for Go, Rust or Python)
• Experience developing for a containerized infrastructure
• Experience operating at scale
• Demonstrable working knowledge of scalable and fault tolerant client/server architecture
• Experience building and maintaining server/back-end architecture for mobile or PC platforms.
• A habit of writing super-clean, encapsulated, and well documented code in a TDD-fashion
• Experience with all phases of product development lifecycle, including requirements definition, specifications, development, test, product release, and sustaining engineering.
