About Phi’s Graduate Programme

Phi’s 2025 graduate programme starts in September. You will join Phi as part of a community of graduates – like-minded, talented young people with whom you will form not just professional but also social bonds that may last a lifetime.

Under our two-year programme, our graduates begin their journey at Phi with four to six weeks of intensive classroom-based training, delivered by our business and technical experts. After the intensive training, you will join your first client-facing team as Junior Consultant, and you will be assigned a Learning Buddy, a senior colleague who will help you navigate these first steps of your career.

Your training doesn’t stop there. You will continue formal training over the two years, and we will make sure time is made available for this. In parallel with the experience that you gain in your client role, we will give you all the support you need to develop the all-round consulting skills necessary for promotion to Consultant at the end of the two-year programme.

About The Role

As one of our delivery consultants, you will be assigned to one of our international project teams, in our delivery centre in Bucharest (Romania).

You will be:

• Working with a variety of different financial institutions across the whole capital markets sector
• Helping our clients run or transform their technology, or shape their technology strategy
• Playing an essential and effective role in both the client team and the wider Phi family: learning from our experts, supporting your colleagues, and constantly striving for excellence.
  
  
  

You may also get the opportunity to travel to different locations across Europe and beyond, if this is something that you would like to do. In the role of a Developer, your primary career focus will be technical in nature working within one of the various clients/assignment types.

Assignments could include:

• Working with bespoke business applications, vendor applications using API, databases, interfaces, integration and middleware platforms, infrastructure and cloud.
• Working closely with senior engineers, quants, and business analysts to understand project requirements.
  
  
  

Other:

• Gaining exposure to capital markets technologies, including trading platforms, risk systems, and market data solutions.
• Although you may have a primary technology as a focus, you can expect to work in multiple technologies in a wide variety of technical and project contexts
• Tasks could include new builds, new features, defect fixing, problem solving, liaising with client/peers to deliver fixes or new solutions
• Understanding the project lifecycle and software delivery best practice
• As well as hands-on software development, you can expect to gain experience in all technical roles across a variety of delivery models – technical analysis, release management, environment management, technical solution design and architecture, DevOps, Continuous Integration and Agile.
  
  
  

With experience you can become an expert in one or more technologies and/or move into a leadership role depending on your own interests

About You

We are looking for talented graduates who have an interest in pursuing a career in capital markets technology, in a consulting context – where each client is different, and each engagement provides a new challenge and a new opportunity for learning.

Education

• Minimum Bachelor of Science, Engineering or Computer Science
• Other degree subjects may be considered, with a minimum of six months of IT related practice in school or other external projects
  
  
  

Other Skills And Capabilities

• Object oriented programming at an education Graduates level or from personal projects Knowledge of basic algorithms
• Familiarity with Design Patterns
• Good scripting knowledge e.g. Bash, Shell, C-Shell, Korn-Shell, Perl, Python
• Additional skills in C#, Java, SQL, Shell Scripts, Perl or Python, XML/XSLTs would be a plus Generic SQL and some administrative knowledge about DBMS
• Debugging on Windows and Linux systems
• Good operating system knowledge on Windows and Linux
