Job Title: Lead Android Engineer

Salary: Up to £85,000 per annum

Location: Hybrid working – West London / Berkshire

We’ve been engaged by a leading national retail and e-commerce brand to find an experienced Lead Android Engineer with a strong background in Kotlin-based mobile app development. This is a key hire within an established engineering practice, where you’ll take ownership of Android application architecture and help drive the mobile strategy forward. The role involves working closely with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable, high-quality Android apps aligned with business priorities.

Essential Experience

• Proven experience leading development on high-availability, scalable Android applications in complex enterprise environments.
• Deep expertise in native Android development using Kotlin (Java knowledge beneficial).
• Strong understanding of mobile app architectural patterns and modern Android frameworks.
• Familiarity with engineering best practices such as TDD, Pair Programming, and Agile delivery.
• Good understanding of mobile security and accessibility standards.

Desirable Experience

• Android development is the core focus; any exposure to iOS/Swift is a plus.
