Founding Fullstack Engineer

We’ve built our platform alongside Private Equity firms to administer equity plans to frontline workers at their portfolio companies. Private equity-owned companies employ over 12 million workers in the US, a substantial and expanding segment of the workforce. About the role

SteadyTrail is hiring a founding full-stack engineer with expertise in backend, infrastructure, and machine learning. We are looking for an engineer who is both a high performing IC and also is passionate about system design, understanding new business problems, and working across disciplines. This individual will report to, and work closely with, the Head of Engineering.

What you’ll do:

• Own new features from architecture through implementation & testing
• Work closely with Product & the Head of Eng to refine requirements, set roadmap, and create testing plans.
• Share maintenance of and updates to existing platform 
• Potential projects include: 
• Natural-language Q&A to understand employment documents
• Secure storage and integration of user financial information from sources such as employer sync, Plaid integration, and self-reporting.
• Member-coach messaging system
• Notification system (web and mobile apps)
• Tools to upload, manage, and create financial education content across multiple languages

Who you are:

• Early-stage startup experience or zero-to-one product development experience.
• Experience with LLM-based AI, RAG, or other modern machine learning techniques.
• 2+ years software engineering experience, with expertise in backend, infrastructure, and/or machine learning.
• IC-first. Loves writing code.
• Familiarity with techstack (below) is a plus.

• SF / Bay Area based preferred

• DB: PostgreSQL w/ Prisma ORM
• Infra: AWS (Lambda, Cognito, S3, Cloudfront), Heroku, Netlify, Docker
• FE: Typescript, React, CSS
