Focusing on mobile UX design, you will create intuitive, engaging mobile experiences with an emphasis on interactions between mobile applications and hardware devices like routers and other networking equipment. You’ll collaborate closely with cross-functional teams in an agile environment to craft seamless user journeys for NETGEAR's iOS and Android mobile apps.
A key challenge you will tackle is improving the onboarding process in the mobile app, ensuring users can complete it successfully on their first attempt. Additionally, you will drive efforts to increase customer sign-ups for subscription services through the mobile app, enhancing the overall user experience.
As a hybrid role, you'll work from the Cork office at least two days a week, balancing in-person collaboration with the flexibility of remote work. Your contributions will be crucial in NETGEAR’s evolution, as the company transitions toward a software-driven model.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead UX design for mobile applications that interact with networking devices, focusing on seamless integration between mobile interfaces and hardware.
- Collaborate with product management, engineers, and marketing teams to design innovative mobile UX solutions for configuring, monitoring, and managing NETGEAR hardware devices as well as our subscriptions offerings.
- Conduct user research and usability testing, gathering insights to understand user needs and pain points specific to mobile-hardware interactions.
- Create wireframes, user flows, prototypes, and visual designs that translate research findings into impactful mobile UX solutions.
- Advocate for best practices in mobile-hardware interaction design, ensuring designs accommodate responsive layouts, adaptive design, and hardware-specific user needs.
- Stay informed on mobile UX/UI design trends, mobile-hardware interaction best practices, and emerging technologies to keep NETGEAR’s mobile apps innovative.
A Typical Day Might Include:
- Morning Standup Meeting: Begin the day with an agile standup meeting, updating your team on progress, discussing blockers, and collaborating with product managers, developers, and other designers.
- Design Work: Refine user flows, build high-fidelity wireframes, or create interactive prototypes using tools like Figma, Sketch, or Adobe XD to visually communicate how mobile apps enable users to configure and manage NETGEAR hardware.
- User Research and Testing: Conduct usability tests or analyze user feedback on mobile interactions with hardware to ensure the design is intuitive and effective.
- Sprint Planning and Refinement: Participate in sprint planning or backlog refinement, providing UX input on upcoming features to ensure they align with NETGEAR’s goals.
- Iteration and Feedback: Review feedback from developers or stakeholders and iterate on wireframes or prototypes, ensuring designs are technically feasible and user-friendly.
- Continuous Learning and Improvement: Join regular retrospectives to reflect on team performance, focusing on continuous improvement in design processes and user experience.
