Viva Engage has a plethora of interesting engineering challenges - like supporting large-scale conversations and communities with hundreds of thousands of participants. We deploy new code every day to our tens of millions of users and are constantly innovating to improve the system and deliver a delightful experience. 

Our backend stack: 

• Linux on Azure
• GraphQL API gateway
• Postgres, CosmosDB , Redis, RabbitMQ
• Java and Ruby on Rails services, deployed as docker containers
• Mesos and Kubernetes container orchestration
• Observability: Grafana metrics, Azure Data Explorer log aggregation

Responsibilities

Design and development of services with tens of millions of users, operating in multiple global regions.

• Implement software best practices and design techniques.
• Collaborate with product, design, and engineering to deliver a delightful experience.
• Continually seek deeper insights into the performance and scalability of our systems.
• Experiment, A/B test key hypothesis to make data driven decisions.
  
  

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 7+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, Ruby, JavaScript, or Python
• OR equivalent experience.
• Experience building large scale, resilient distributed systems.
  

Other Requirements

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

• Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Possess efficient, tenacious debugging skills using logs and metrics.
• Experience with multiple datastores (SQL and NoSQL) and data access patterns.
• Experience developing and operating microservices.
• Experience with GraphQL.
