The Role

We are looking for an experienced Technical Lead to guide a growing engineering team. In this role, you’ll lead backend engineers while actively contributing to the codebase. This is an exciting opportunity for a technical leader passionate about both leadership and hands-on engineering.

You’ll be responsible for managing technical execution, leading sprints, and ensuring smooth collaboration with stakeholders. We’re looking for someone with strong experience in AWS, Node.js, Typescript, Javascript, and ideally React Native/iOS.

The role requires 1-on-1 coaching, leading technical discussions, and ensuring the team delivers high-quality work while owning tickets. Strong communication, empathy, and the ability to balance leadership with team development are essential.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of backend engineers, setting an example in technical execution, decision-making, and team culture.
• Continue coding, reviewing, and solving problems while managing the team, spending about 80% of time coding and 20% on management.
• Collaborate on sprint planning to ensure work is well-defined, achievable, and aligned with business goals.
• Conduct 1-on-1s to coach, mentor, and foster career development. Keep the team aligned on technical goals and culture.
• Act as a bridge between engineering and business stakeholders, ensuring clear communication on timelines, issues, and risks.
• Oversee task ownership, from estimation to delivery, ensuring accountability throughout the sprint cycle.
• Proactively address technical challenges and propose improvements to architecture, processes, and tools.
  
  

Required Skills & Experience:

• Proven experience as a technical lead or engineering manager, guiding teams and ensuring technical excellence.
• Strong experience with Node.js, Typescript, Javascript, and ideally AWS; familiarity with React Native/iOS is a plus.
• Experience with AWS cloud technologies and architecture.
• Strong communication skills to engage effectively with remote teams and stakeholders.
• Ability to empathize with the team’s challenges while maintaining high standards.
• Comfortable with Agile methodologies, sprint planning, and balancing leadership with hands-on coding.
• Experience working with remote teams (including cross-regional collaboration between Australia and Malaysia).
• Ability to solve technical issues while keeping the bigger picture in mind.
