Position: Head of Software and Systems (Embedded)

Location: Sydney,NSW

Role Type: Permanent

Salary: $220,000 - 260,000 + Super + bonus(STI+LTI)

Primary Objectives:

• Develop system, V&V, and software engineering disciplines to support product roadmap and company vision.
• Manage and develop the systems and software team, ensuring alignment with company policies.
• Apply industry best practices to ensure high-quality and timely project delivery.
• Provide technical and architectural direction for scalable solutions across products.

Key Responsibilities:

• Set the strategy for systems and software functions within R&D.
• Lead and structure the team to meet product and technology roadmaps.
• Foster a culture of innovation and professional development.
• Ensure compliance with quality management systems and regulatory needs.
• Implement scaled agile practices and integrate them within product development.
• Manage team performance, setting objectives and creating a performance culture.
• Make technical decisions supporting platform use, technical re-use, and cross-system integration.

Skills, Knowledge & Experience:

• 15+ years in managing teams, ideally with 7+ years managing people managers.
• 10+ years in embedded software development (Python, C/C++, Java, etc.) and RTOS.
• Strong experience in medical device development, regulatory compliance, and quality management.
• Expertise in scalable architecture and cloud/integration initiatives.
• Proven leadership in cross-functional teams and agile methodologies.

Education & Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent experience.
