Compliance and Risk Officer

Job Responsibilities:

Compliance Function

• Responsible for continuously assessing BTGT Europe's compliance risks, coordination of business processes, implementation, and ongoing improvement of internal control systems and processes.
• Oversees the ongoing and regular training of employees and ensures adherence to internal processes and regulations.
• Manage internal process risks effectively and provide regular reports (weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual) to BTGT Europe's management and relevant authorities as legislation mandates.
• Developing and regularly reviewing internal procedures to ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and other normative documents governing the operations of payment institutions.
• Monitoring and analysing legislation, regulatory guidelines, and legislative initiatives.
• Prepare and submit compliance reports to the Bank of Lithuania and other Lithuanian and European authorities.
• Regular assessment and monitoring of internal and external compliance risk factors.
• Periodic evaluation of compliance programs and preparing and implementing necessary improvements and updates.
• Conducting internal compliance audits if no designated responsible entity exists.
• Regularly assess the work quality of other compliance team members and provide additional training as needed.
• Maintaining communication with Lithuanian authorities, including preparing required reports and notifications for institutions such as the Financial Crime Investigation Service and the Bank of Lithuania.
• Participating in relevant AML training, meetings, and seminars to enhance knowledge and improve internal processes to mitigate risks.

Risk Management

• Responsible for the establishment and maintenance of a system and control framework
• Implementation of mitigation and reporting tools to address business risks, risk and control governance and oversight
• Monitor BTGT Europe's risk appetite and risk-bearing capacity
• Defining risk management policies and procedures, defining and monitoring key risk indicators, and incident and breach reporting to the Management Board and the General Meeting of Shareholders.
• The Compliance and Risk Officer forms the second line of defence of BTGT Europe and owns all regulatory compliance processes and shall ensure legal and regulatory compliance of the BTGT Europe's activities with laws, Bank of Lithuania guidelines, and other jurisdiction-specific laws.

Job Requirements:

Education: Bachelor's degree in Law, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field. A focus on regulatory compliance, risk management, or a related area is preferred.

Experience:

• Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive experience in compliance, risk management, or a related field within financial services. Experience in the cryptocurrency or fintech industry is a significant plus.
• Proven track record of working with regulatory bodies and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, particularly within Lithuania and within the EU.
• Experience developing and implementing compliance programs and risk management frameworks.
• Familiarity with AML regulations and best practices.
• Experience reporting to management and regulatory authorities, including remote teams.
• Experience conducting internal audits is a plus.

• Strong understanding of financial regulations and compliance requirements, particularly within Lithuania and the broader EU.
• Good analytical and problem-solving abilities, especially related to risk assessment and mitigation.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively, often across time zones.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Fluency in English and in Lithuanian.
• Proficiency in relevant software and technology platforms.
