Blockchain Developer

We are partnering with a leading proprietary trading firm to help them hire an experienced Back-End Blockchain Engineer to join their growing Digital Assets Technology team in Amsterdam. You’ll work alongside high-performing teams of engineers, traders, and quants to build scalable, low-latency systems for trading across decentralized finance (DeFi) markets.

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Develop scalable and low-latency solutions for DEX trading in close collaboration with trading desks
• Design and implement high-performance systems for real-time DeFi trading
• Bring protocol-specific knowledge and best practices to the team’s blockchain development efforts
• Build and maintain on-chain and off-chain components (smart contracts, indexers, bots, etc.)
• Implement robust APIs and integrate with DeFi protocols and DEXs
• Design event-driven microservices for processing blockchain transactions in real time
• Ensure the availability, security, and performance of blockchain-based backend systems
• Work closely with Quants, Traders, and Engineers to drive automation and innovation on the Digital Assets desk
• Follow best-in-class software engineering practices within a highly supportive and tech-forward environment

What We’re Looking For:

• Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (BSc, MSc, or PhD)
• 5+ years’ commercial experience in backend software development
• Strong proficiency in one or more of the following: Python, Rust, Go, Java
• Deep knowledge of blockchain fundamentals and DeFi protocols
• Experience in smart contract development (Solidity and/or Rust)
• Strong understanding of distributed systems, microservices, and real-time processing
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and containerization tools like Docker/Kubernetes
• Experience with real-time tech stacks: Kafka, Redis, gRPC, WebSockets
• Security-first mindset in blockchain and backend development (private key management, API security, etc.)
• Experience in high-performance, low-latency environments is a plus
• Bonus points for exposure to MEV strategies, on-chain data analysis, oracles, or prior trading systems
