Job Description

Are you passionate about leveraging machine learning and AI to drive innovation?

Downer is seeking a Data Engineer / Data Scientist with road asset management experience to assist with the development and implementation of cutting-edge digital technologies for data collection, program optimisation, and dynamic task scheduling. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work at the forefront of AI-driven asset management solutions, collaborating with a diverse range of stakeholders across Transport and Infrastructure AU.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement machine learning and artificial intelligence models for data collection and object recognition
• Refine existing machine learning algorithms and develop new ones as necessary
• Enhance data analytics approaches for work program planning and schedule optimisation
• Provide hands-on support to Maintenance & Intelligent Transport System (M&I) Service Delivery teams in implementing innovative digital solutions
• Standardise processes and systems to drive efficiency and effectiveness in digital solutions
• Work collaboratively with IT teams, strategic asset management teams, and service delivery teams to integrate AI-driven solutions effectively
  
  

What You’ll Bring

• Degree in Computer Science or a related field
• Strong experience in machine learning and AI for data capture
• Proficiency in Python and SQL
• Knowledge of object detection technologies
• Experience developing and implementing containerisation technologies
• Background in predictive modelling and workflow management systems
• Familiarity with small ‘Maker’ hardware is an advantage
• Understanding of road asset management concepts (preferred)
• Demonstrated ability to define and manage projects and own system implementations
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to evaluate information quickly and formulate decisions
• Excellent communication skills to work effectively with stakeholders and operational teams
