About The Role - Junior Network Engineer (On Site)

The primary responsibility of the Junior Network Engineer is to provide high level technical and troubleshooting support for the company's global hosted platform to our ASP customer base. This is a technical position, supporting multi location infrastructure spread across continents consisting of routers, switches, and Linux based servers.

The successful individual will be able to find solutions to complex problems whilst holding to the highest level with regards to quality and technical expertise. Working as part of a global infrastructure team, the ability to build productive working relationships with colleagues in offices around the world will make you successful in this role. You will also work closely with the company's support and engineering teams.

Specific Duties

  • Respond promptly to network support requests and inquiries from clients.
  • Support customers and resolve issues related to dedicated line network connectivity, VPN connectivity and exchange connectivity.
  • Monitor, and maintain globally distributed datacentre infrastructure.
  • Gather data to conduct analysis of network failure
  • Document and track case histories, issues and actionable steps taken.
  • Identify solutions to open issues / problem that are under investigation or pending resolution.
  • Automate network monitoring and configuration management.
  • Work directly with new customers to coordinate deployment and implementation of network infrastructure.

About You

The successful candidate will have a technology degree or a minimum of two years practical working experience supporting distributed network working within an electronic trading environment. You will be able to manage and prioritise, at times, a high number of requests and will have demonstrated the ability to maintain high levels of productivity with minimal supervision.

To be successful in this role, you will

  • respond promptly to client needs and solicit feedback to improve service.
  • take pride in resolving customer issues - using strong analytical skills to correctly identify the root cause, working on, or actively contributing to the resolution and ensuring its successful rollout.
  • perform well and be comfortable in high-pressure or time critical situations, whilst always maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • be willing to assume responsibility and make timely decisions, including to escalate when appropriate.
  • have effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • have experience supporting Linux based servers, Cisco / Arista switches and Cisco firewalls.
  • be able to comfortably work with command line tools such as telnet, ssh, tcpdump and ncat.

Any of these will help you in the role

  • Experience supporting electronic trading network.
  • Experience of hardware platforms and technologies (Cisco, Juniper, Arista, etc)
  • Experience with or knowledge of cloud-based technologies such as AWS.
  • Exposure to technologies like docker, virtualization, Kubernetes, etc.
  • Cisco CCNA or CCNP Certification
