CommSec is Australia’s leading online retail stockbroker providing customers with products including the ability to buy and sell shares online, free access to live prices, price charts and portfolio watchlists. It also offers CommSec Cash Management, an integrated cash solution.

The CommSec Chief Operating Office (COO) is responsible for ensuring the proactive management of risk and controls across CommSec, for CommSec Strategy, and for the CommSec Capital Markets team. The COO is also responsible for leading CommSec’s Compliance Programme (CCP) and Privacy program.


About the opportunity

We are looking for a self-driven, detail-oriented professional with a knack for managing complex projects and engaging with senior stakeholders. CommSec is seeking a Project Manager to support the governance of the CCP. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the CCP runs smoothly, adheres to GDF requirements, and is reporting adequately to our PSG, risk committees and Board. This position involves coordinating stakeholder interviews, data requests, and regulatory interactions, while maintaining strong organizational skills and resilience. Role responsibilities

  • Strategically project managing stakeholders to support delivery
  • Identify opportunities to improve governance
  • Dedicated day-to-day support for stakeholders
  • Participate in governance meetings
  • Manage and lead the development and maintenance of robust project plans and mandatory project documentation to support the delivery of quality outcomes
  • Lead the development of mitigation strategies to manage project interdependencies and to mitigate key risks, to ensure successful delivery
  • Engage key stakeholders to support quality decision making
  • Balance competing demands to ensure project objectives are achieved


We’re interested in hearing from people who have

  • Demonstrated experience in banking/financial service/other relevant industry in an in Operational Risk management and/or Compliance roles
  • Strong reasoning ability and negotiation / influencing skills, across a range of stakeholder groups. Have demonstrable skills in navigating complex stakeholder groups and delivering end-to-end projects
  • Ability to think critically, analytically and strategically
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills
  • Understanding of regulatory and licensing legislation is advantageous.

  • Demonstrated experience in managing projects ideally within Risk, Compliance, Regulatory Reform or Remediation
  • This is a 12 Month fixed term opportunity
