We are looking for a Principal Engineer to help shape the future of S-ID in Helsinki. You are part of our S-ID team, where we work together with PO, Product Lead, Lead Engineers, Fullstack Engineers and QA Engineers. Our workplace is at our Helsinki office, Ässäkeskus. However, the teams decide independently how often they work at the office. Currently, the team meets at the office on average 2-3 days per week.

Your Responsibilities

In this role, you will be a key member of a team developing and operating the centralised Customer Identity and Access Management (CIAM) solution for the entire S Group, used by millions of consumers daily across Finland. Our CIAM solution consists of authentication and authorisation APIs and engines, UIs built on top of all that, and a few other supporting services. All of S Group’s customer-facing digital services rely on services built by your team, providing an opportunity to be at the focal point of digital services.

Your daily tasks include

• You'll be the driving force behind evaluating and selecting the next-generation CIAM solution. This means deep dives into the latest technologies, rigorous analysis, and strategic recommendations.
• You'll be a hands-on engineer, contributing to the codebase and mentoring the team. Your expertise will guide our technical direction and ensure alignment across squads.
• Design and build the core architecture of our new identity platform, ensuring it's scalable, secure, and resilient.
• You'll be a strong advocate for code quality, maintainability, and operational excellence, ensuring our systems are built to last.
  
  

Is this you?

You have a passion and wide expertise in CIAM concepts and a proven track record of evaluating and implementing identity solutions. You are curious and analytical and have proven leadership and effective communication skills in English. You have excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

What We Hope From You

• Strong architectural design skills and the ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS preferred) and modern software development practices.
• Hands-on coding experience, and a willingness to work with Clojure, or learn it.
• Leadership skills: experience in supporting and mentoring individuals and boosting co-operation, constructiveness and good team spirit.
• In work-related matters, you communicate fluently in English (Finnish is seen as a plus).
