The Network Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of network infrastructure to support the operational requirements of the organization. They collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure network availability, performance, and security while driving continuous improvement initiatives. 


Responsibilities: 


 

  1. Network Design: Design and implement robust and scalable network architectures to support business needs. 
  2. Network Administration: Configure, monitor, and maintain routers, switches, firewalls, and other networking equipment. 
  3. Performance Monitoring: Analyze network performance and implement optimization strategies to ensure efficient and reliable operation. 
  4. Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve network-related issues promptly to minimize downtime and disruptions. 
  5. Security: Implement and manage network security measures, including firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion detection/prevention systems. 
  6. Documentation: Create and maintain technical documentation, including network diagrams, configurations, and incident reports. 
  7. Collaboration: Work closely with system engineers, IT teams, and stakeholders to align network infrastructure with organizational goals. 
  8. Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on the latest networking technologies and recommend innovative solutions to enhance the infrastructure. 


Required Skills: 


 

  1. In-depth knowledge of networking protocols and technologies (e.g., TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, VLANs, MPLS). 
  2. Expertise in configuring and managing networking hardware (e.g., Cisco, Juniper, Arista). 
  3. Experience with network monitoring tools and systems (e.g., SolarWinds, Nagios, Wireshark). 
  4. Strong understanding of network security principles and best practices. 
  5. Familiarity with cloud networking solutions (AWS, Azure, GCP). 
  6. Solid troubleshooting and analytical skills to resolve complex technical issues. 
  7. Excellent communication and teamwork skills. 
  8. Attention to detail and a disciplined approach to documentation and process management. 

 


Education and Experience: 


  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, networking, or a related field. 
  • Proven experience as a Network Engineer or in a similar role. 
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CCNA, CCNP, CompTIA Network+, JNCIA).
