Software Development Engineer, C#

What You'll Do

The AvaTax Engineering team at Avalara is responsible for designing, building and supporting our flagship tax determinations platform. You will report to the Software Engineering Manager. This is a hybrid opportunity for Durham, NC.

This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship.

What Your Responsibilities Will Be

You will work in a scrum team with other engineers on a mixture of software and platform-related tasks related to improving the global tax determinations platform. The goal of the team is maintain the AvaTax Platform. You will deploy AvaTax to more countries, regions, and cloud providers, and to ensure we are meeting Avalara's value proposition and high levels of customer satisfaction.

• You will lead the design and overall software development lifecycle for a set of core roadmap items
• Participate in systemwide architecture discussions and facilitate integrations across engineering teams
• You will develop custom APIs and middleware to facilitate data exchange, synchronization, and real-time communication between different systems
• Implement robust error handling, data validation, and data transformation mechanisms to ensure data integrity and accuracy during integration processes
• Optimize integration performance and scalability to accommodate a growing number of clients and increasing data volumes
• Design and implement new features and maintain existing functionalities
• You will implement agile/scrum processes
  
  

What You’ll Need To Be Successful

• Minimum of 3 years work experience with C#
• AWS, GCP or OCI
• Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
• Experience building real-time systems
