About The Role

An early stage X project is looking for a SWE with practical experience developing C++ systems that communicate with hardware sensors.

Our team seeks to generate actionable insights from data from different sources, working directly with industry partners to provide immediate real-world impact.

How You Will Make 10X Impact

• Design, implement, and improve performant C++ systems that process and organize data from multiple hardware sources
• Design, implement, and improve algorithms for deriving insights on chemical data using a broad array of state-of-the-art deep learning methods.
• Rapidly develop system prototypes to evaluate feasibility
• Strong end-to-end ownership of the software infrastructure
• Work effectively with cross-functional teams of engineers, scientists, and domain experts
• Work with collaborators across X and Alphabet (e.g. Brain, Google Accelerated Sciences, etc.) to apply, modify, and develop new ideas, techniques, algorithms, and tools as needed.
  
  

What You Should Have

• MS/PhD in CS or demonstrable practical experience in the field
• 3-5 years experience writing software that interacts with a variety of asynchronous hardware sensors
• Experience building data management platforms in C++
• Experience with technical leadership in a fast-paced environment
• Knowledge of deep learning model building, validation, and optimization methods
• Experience building data pipelines and backend integration
• Fluency with C++, Python, and Linux
  
  

It’d Be Great If You Also Had These

• Experience with Google Cloud Platform tools like Dataflow and VertexAI
• An understanding of imaging and/or spectroscopy
• A passion for solving the problems of plastic waste, circular economy of materials
  
  

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $161,000 - $250,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your location during the hiring process.
