About The Role

The Device Management team are a back end team focused on managing the fleet of terminals at various scales, this could be as small as a single terminal and being as large as the entire fleet. In the team you will be looking to build on the existing functionality and deliver exciting new features to help our staff better service terminals for our merchants. You will be looking for optimisations, creating efficiencies and working collaboratively with the many teams that are required to make Tyro terminals operate smoothly.

As a key member of the development team, you will work closely with designers, product managers, and other stakeholders to define and execute on our vision and values. Whilst based in Sydney, you will report to the Engineering Lead.

What You'll Do

  • Be Involved throughout the whole delivery life cycle, from inception to production, through to planning, development and testing, contributing at every stage
  • Translate your technical skills to influence other developers, product managers and senior managers to ensure the team understands the Tyro vision
  • Develop high performance features, services and algorithms
  • Experiment with new technologies! We're always open to trialling something new here
  • Ensure openness, transparency and visibility at all times
  • Foster initiatives in speed of delivery, customer focus, creativity and experimentation
  • Set examples for having high ownership, enthusiasm and a can-do mentality to the team
  • Balance the needs of product/service features with technical vision and operational needs
  • Align vision with our goals for technology, delivery, quality, customer focus and simplicity

What You'll Bring

  • A degree in Computer Science or Engineering, and 4-8 years of experience in developing and maintaining software or an equivalent level of education or work experience
  • Proven working experience in Java/Kotlin/Nodejs
  • Experience with Cloud-based development and DevOps practices (AWS, ECS, ECR, S3, Lambda etc)
  • Solid understanding of how to build testable, decoupled, maintainable code and other engineering best practices
  • Passion for creating quality software and up to date on new technologies
  • Test automation and Continuous Integration & Delivery practices
  • Strong interpersonal and communication abilities, with the ability to influence the engineering teams towards a united vision
  • Desirable experience with Kotlin, Spring, Hibernate, Microservices, Test Driven Development and Pair Programming
  • Strong communication and leadership abilities, with the ability to influence the engineering teams towards a united vision and goal
