Network Engineer (m/f/d)

Tasks:

  • Architect, deploy, and manage secure, scalable on-premises network infrastructures across multiple locations.
  • Administer and maintain routing, switching, and firewall configurations to ensure optimal data flow and system protection.
  • Monitor and analyze network performance, proactively identifying and resolving potential bottlenecks or security risks.
  • Design and implement VPNs and other secure remote access solutions to support a flexible and distributed workforce.
  • Contribute to the development and enforcement of security policies, standards, and best practices in alignment with industry frameworks.
  • Assist in managing cybersecurity operations, including vulnerability assessments, threat detection, incident response, and mitigation planning.
  • Integrate new technologies into existing environments, ensuring compatibility, reliability, and business continuity.
  • Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders (e.g., IT infrastructure, compliance, application teams) on cross-functional initiatives and audits.
  • Provide 2nd and 3rd level support for network and security-related incidents.
  • Maintain thorough and up-to-date technical documentation to support compliance and internal knowledge transfer.
  • Participate in continuous improvement projects, particularly related to digitalization, automation, and network security enhancements.


Qualifications:

  • Degree in IT, telecommunications, or a comparable technical discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Solid understanding of network protocols and architecture (e.g., TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, VLANs).
  • Proven hands-on experience in network design, configuration, and troubleshooting (especially with Cisco, Juniper, or similar technologies).
  • Proficiency with firewall technologies, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and VPN configurations.
  • Experience with network monitoring and analysis tools (e.g., Wireshark, Nagios, PRTG, SolarWinds).
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity principles and frameworks (e.g., ISO 27001, NIST, MITRE ATT&CK) is a strong asset.
  • Analytical thinking, structured working style, and high attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to explain technical topics to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proficient in written and spoken English; German language skills are an advantage.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally (up to 15%) as required by project needs.
  • The base salary is composed of the minimum remuneration as stipulated by the applicable collective agreement (at least €50,000 per year on a full-time basis), supplemented by a potential market-aligned overpayment. The actual salary will be determined based on qualifications, professional experience, and individual competencies.
