Job Description

As Data Governance Manager, you will lead our data governance initiatives, ensuring data quality, compliance, and alignment with strategic business objectives. You will oversee the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of data governance frameworks, policies, and procedures across the organization. Collaborating closely with senior leadership and cross-functional teams, you will foster a culture of data-driven decision-making, oversee compliance with regulatory requirements, and manage a dedicated team of Data Governance Officers.

Leadership and Strategy

• Define, develop, and drive the global data governance strategy and roadmap.
• Lead a team of Data Governance Officers, providing direction, mentoring, and performance management.
• Champion data governance best practices and foster a data-driven culture within the organization.
  
  

Implementation and Operations

• Oversee the implementation and maintenance of comprehensive data governance frameworks.
• Establish and enforce standards for data definitions, quality controls, and lifecycle management.
• Identify opportunities for automation and optimization in data governance operations.
  
  

Stakeholder Engagement

• Serve as the primary liaison with senior stakeholders, clearly articulating the value and impact of data governance initiatives.
• Collaborate strategically with Data Owners, Stewards, Architects, Engineers, Analysts, and other business and technical stakeholders.
• Facilitate executive-level committees and community forums for data governance discussions and decision-making.
  
  

Compliance and Reporting

• Ensure organizational compliance with regulatory standards (e.g., GDPR, FINMA).
• Monitor, analyze, and report strategic KPIs on data governance effectiveness to senior management.
• Lead response efforts for internal and external data governance audits.
  
  

Qualifications

• Minimum 5-7 years experience in data governance roles, including leadership responsibilities, preferably within the banking or financial services industry.
• Deep expertise in data governance frameworks, processes, and regulatory compliance.
• Proven track record managing teams and successfully driving strategic initiatives.
• Advanced experience with data cataloging, quality management, and Master Data Management (MDM).
• Proficiency in SQL and familiarity with Python or other scripting languages.
• Competence in utilizing reporting and analytics tools (e.g., Tableau, Metabase, Kibana).
• Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management capabilities.
• Strategic thinker, able to translate complex data governance issues into clear business strategies.
• Adaptive, proactive, and committed to fostering continuous improvement and learning.
