Role Overview: We're seeking a Unity Flight Simulation & Test Developer to build and maintain our hardware-in-the-loop simulation environment. You'll create a comprehensive Unity-based simulation platform that interfaces with our custom flight controller and computer vision systems, enabling extensive testing of our autonomous delivery capabilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain a high-fidelity Unity simulation environment for autonomous drone testing
- Create realistic 3D urban environments for testing delivery scenarios
- Implement physics-based drone flight dynamics in Unity
- Build interfaces between Unity and our hardware systems (flight controller via UART, computer vision via camera feed)
- Design and execute automated test scenarios to validate autonomous flight capabilities
- Create tools for test scenario generation, data collection, and analysis
- Collaborate with the flight systems team to continuously improve simulation accuracy
- Support regression testing and feature validation through simulation
Required Qualifications:
- Strong Unity development experience
- Solid C# programming skills
- Experience with physics simulation in Unity
- Background in automated testing and test frameworks
- Strong understanding of 3D graphics and rendering
- Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills
- Understanding of physics & flight dynamics
- Experience with version control (Git) and CI/CD pipelines
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with hardware-in-the-loop simulation systems
- Experience with physics and control simulations (MuJoCo, Simulink, Gazebo)
- Understanding of drone or robotics systems
- Experience with UART/Serial communication protocols
- Background in aerospace or autonomous systems
- Experience with performance optimization in Unity
