Head of BSS (IoT billing and CMP)

Com4 is looking for a Head of BSS to lead our IoT BSS team and also contribute operationally to ensure our Billing and CMP solutions and processes support our goal of being a leading global IoT connectivity provider. This position strongly benefits from hands-on experience with telecom billing, experience with IoT CMP platforms is also beneficial.

About Business Support Systems at Com4

At the heart of our BSS stack are the platforms and processes for generating billing data and enabling our B2B customers to manage their subscriptions and services.

The billing process involves processing customer usage data in the form of CDR/TAP files against selected data products and pricing. This includes generating pre-invoices, collaborating with the sales department, ensuring accurate billing data production, quality checks, sending invoices via an external system, and supporting claims and collections.

The Com4 Connectivity Management Platform (CMP) is a portal that allows our customers to easily manage their data subscriptions and services through a GUI or API. CMP also serves as a master database for our products, implements billing logic, provides provisioning to related systems, and offers diagnostics for customer services. CMP facilitates key business processes such as provisioning services according to customer orders and ensuring accurate monthly billing based on usage and product portfolio.

About the Role

Com4 is strengtening our BSS capabilities with a newly created position, Head of BSS. This role is responsible for leading a team managing the Billing process and the CMP platform. The Head of BSS will also contribute operationally as needed, including overseeing the billing process and guiding CMP development through requirements specification with the vendor. Reporting to the CTO, this role will participate in a leadership team responsible for implementing product strategy and OKR updates, playing a pivotal role in executing Com4’s business strategy. Therefore, this position requires strong leadership skills, a strategic mindset, and technical expertise/experience to effectively manage operational responsibilities.

To succeed in this role, you should be a technically proficient professional with experience in Telecom Billing and/or CMP (systems for IoT). Furthermore, you must have demonstrated leadership abilities in team management, project management, or possess the potential to transition into a leadership role.

While expertise in several of the following areas is desirable, this is also a role where the right personal attributes can lead to significant growth:

• Experience in operating/managing technical business systems and/or operational systems (BSS/OSS).
• Experience in conducting billing processes in telecom, including generating billing data and invoice delivery.
• Proficiency in using database systems (such as MySQL) for billing logic, reporting, troubleshooting, etc.
• Familiarity with CMP platforms for M2M/IoT is a plus.
• Strong understanding of the Telecom BSS value chain.
• General understanding of Telecom mobile architecture.
• Experience in technical product management.
• Technical vendor management, including requirements specification and follow-up.
• Generate business insights from quantitative analysis of customers and products.
• Solid general IT competence, such as basic IT system operations, scripting, IT development, and automation tools.
• Leadership experience (team, project), courses, or training is a plus.
