N-ix is looking for a Middle Full-Stack Engineer (React Native+NodeJS)

Our customer is the leading school transportation provider in North America, being the owner of more than a half of all yellow school buses in the United States. Every day, the company completes 5 million student journeys, moving more passengers than all U.S. airlines combined and delivers reliable, quality services for 1,100 school districts.

Responsibilities:

  • Write quality, maintainable code with extensive test coverage in a fast-paced professional software engineering environment
  • Promote best practices to improve the quality of our code and processes
  • Research and evaluate technical options to implement business requirements
  • Provide system or technical development expertise to the team
  • Work in close contact with team members and project stakeholders
  • Suggest technical and functional improvements to add value to the product and tackle technical debt

Requirements:

  • 2+ years of software development experience (using Node.JS)
  • 1+ years of experience with mobile development (React Native based)

Backend:

  • Proficient in Node.js, with strong understanding of asynchronous programming and design patterns
  • Experience with Express.js or similar frameworks
  • API development (REST and/or GraphQL)
  • Experience with database systems like PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, or DynamoDB

Frontend:

  • Solid experience with React Native for cross-platform mobile development
  • Knowledge of React hooks, state management libraries (Redux, Zustand, etc.)
  • Familiarity with component libraries and responsive design principles

Cloud & DevOps:

  • Hands-on experience with AWS services (EC2, S3, Lambda, API Gateway, RDS, Cognito, etc.)
  • Proficient with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, CircleCI)
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation)

Testing & Quality

  • Writing unit, integration, and end-to-end tests (Jest, Mocha, Cypress, Detox, etc.)
  • Experience with code reviews, linters, and static analysis tools

Testing:

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a remote/distributed team
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban)
  • Problem-solving mindset with attention to performance, scalability, and security
  • Excellent communication and organization skills, product-oriented mindset, focus on team results, willingness to constant personal and team improvements
  • Upper-Intermediate English level
  • Ukrainian language - Advanced

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with Serverless architecture
  • Familiarity with mobile app deployment processes (App Store / Google Play)
  • GraphQL expertise (Apollo, Relay)
  • Experience in monitoring and logging (CloudWatch, DataDog, Sentry, etc.)
