The Role
In this highly strategic role, you will be responsible for leading the development and execution of the 10-Year Group Fleet Plan, ensuring alignment with the Qantas Group’s financial objectives and long-term strategy. You’ll engage with key stakeholders across the business, including senior executives, commercial teams, and external partners such as aircraft manufacturers (OEMs), to optimise fleet investments and drive commercial outcomes.

The Role
In this highly strategic role, you will be responsible for leading the development and execution of the 10-Year Group Fleet Plan, ensuring alignment with the Qantas Group’s financial objectives and long-term strategy. You’ll engage with key stakeholders across the business, including senior executives, commercial teams, and external partners such as aircraft manufacturers (OEMs), to optimise fleet investments and drive commercial outcomes.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Develop & optimise the Group Fleet Reference Plan to ensure flexibility, growth, and profitability.
- Lead commercial negotiations with OEMs, securing best-in-class agreements for new aircraft and technologies.
- Drive strategic procurement initiatives and influence capital investment decisions valued at up to $30 billion AUD.
- Provide expert insights on new fleet technologies, competitor analysis, and industry trends.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders including Treasury, Finance, Strategy, Network Planning, and Engineering.
- Ensure effective governance & risk management in fleet acquisition and planning.
- Act as a key liaison between Qantas and OEMs, fostering strong long-term relationships.
- 15+ years of experience in aviation, fleet planning, fleet finance or commercial strategy.
- Strong background in aircraft procurement, contract negotiation, and supplier management.
- A deep understanding of airline financial performance, fleet strategy, and capital investment.
- Exceptional stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence at executive levels.
- Degree qualifications in a relevant field such as Commerce, Engineering, or Finance.
- High-level analytical skills and the ability to manage complex, large-scale projects.
