Product Manager

Jetstar Airways
Australia · Full-time · Mid-Senior

We’re Jetstar. You may know us for our famous low fares, but did you also know that we’ve flown more than 400 million customers since we launched in Australia in 2004? In fact, each week we operate around 3,000 flights to nearly 40 destinations across Australia, New Zealand, Asia and the Pacific. And we're not just an Australian airline either - the Jetstar Group also includes Jetstar Asia and Jetstar Japan, and is one of the largest low-cost airline groups in Asia Pacific by revenue. As a group, we operate a fleet of more than 115 aircraft, including the Airbus A320 family and Boeing 787-8s. Every day we enable more people to takeoff to more places, more often.

Job Description

The Product Manager role is responsible for the “next-gen” product roadmap within the Jetstar Operations Control Centre (JOCC), the 24/7 team that supports the airline operation. The role will maximise the business value of product development efforts by deeply understanding the operational challenges faced within the 14-day window to departure to enable better decisions across customer, financial, employee, and regulatory outcomes.

You will own the end-to-end lifecycle of a suite of tools and systems that support these decisions – defining the problems, prioritising the opportunities, and driving the roadmap to deliver tangible impact, as part of an agile squad.

Reporting into the Integrated Planning and Technology teams, the Product Manager will work closely with both internal stakeholders and external vendors. They will also lead a team of data scientists, data engineers, business analysts and developers to support the day-to-day features and improvements.

Experience

  • Tertiary education in Business, Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or relevant industry experience.
  • Experience in product management, with a proven track record of managing successful products (product management and certified agile product owner qualifications preferred)
  • Demonstrated experience leading, managing and developing high-performing teams
  • Proven experience in engaging, collaborating, and influencing stakeholders from all levels – including senior and executive management
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate complex thoughts and ideas clearly to a variety of audiences
  • Experience in managing business critical, enterprise-level, and highly transactional applications and systems
  • Proven ability to manage vendor relationships and ensure high-quality deliverables
  • Experience in project management or delivery management with large complex strategic projects
  • Deep commitment to understand and meet the needs of both customers and employees
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, using a flexible approach and demonstrating tolerance for ambiguity
  • Experience in aviation and airline/travel systems will be highly regarded
