Role Type: 12 MFTC
The Story
At Aunty Grace, they’re reimagining what support looks like for older Australians and their families. They provide an easy, compassionate, and modern way for people to access home care services — without the overwhelm. Whether it's helping someone navigate their Home Care Package, find a trusted support worker, or organise essential services like transport, cleaning, or personal care, their goal is simple: to make aging well at home easier, more empowering, and more human.
They believe the aged care experience in Australia shouldn’t feel bureaucratic, confusing, or transactional. It should feel personal. Supportive. That’s where they come in — combining tech, people, and genuine care to offer a better way forward.
As a fast-growing startup backed by a team of health, care, and tech professionals, they’re building digital tools that make life easier for clients, families, and the care coordinators who support them. And at the centre of this is design — thoughtful, intuitive, inclusive design that helps people feel confident and supported at every touchpoint.
The Role
As the UI/UX Designer, you'll play a key role in shaping the experience across their core platform — with a particular focus on high-impact projects that blend usability, compliance, and thoughtful design. You’ll take full ownership of their external-facing design system.
One of your first major projects will be leading the design of a QR-based check-in process for support workers visiting clients in their homes. This feature enables workers to scan QR codes placed at a client’s location (like on a fridge or door) to check in for their appointment. You’ll be designing a smooth onboarding workflow for first-time users — including account creation, identity verification, and authentication steps — as well as the ongoing interaction model for returning users. The goal is to create a seamless, secure, and scalable experience that supports both usability and compliance in a regulated environment.
Beyond this, you’ll work across various parts of the platform to improve workflows, validate design decisions with users and internal stakeholders, and evolve their design system. You’ll need to be comfortable working autonomously, giving and receiving feedback, and occasionally negotiating with engineers to find the best path forward.
What you’ll get up to:
- Lead the design of end-to-end user experiences, from discovery and wireframes through to final UI and prototypes
- Collaborate with developers and other stakeholders to understand problems and co-design effective solutions
- Conduct user research, usability testing, and customer interviews to validate assumptions and iterate on designs
- Champion accessibility, inclusivity, and simplicity in everything you create
- Create and maintain a consistent design system and component library
- Bring a human touch to technology, making their tools feel helpful, friendly, and trustworthy
What You Bring To The Role
We’re looking for a UI/UX Designer who’s passionate about solving real-world problems with empathy and simplicity. Someone who can take complex journeys and make them feel effortless. You’re able to design experiences that are not only beautiful, but truly useful — especially for people who might not be "digital natives".
This is a chance to use your craft to make a meaningful impact — to design with purpose, for people who really need it.
- Proven experience as a UI/UX designer, product designer
- Strong portfolio showcasing both UX thinking and UI execution
- Comfort with tools like Figma (or similar), and experience creating wireframes, user flows, and interactive prototypes
- A good eye for typography, layout, and visual balance — and a love for clean, modern interfaces
- Curiosity, empathy, and the ability to work closely with users and internal teams
- Experience working in a fast-paced, agile environment — startup or scaleup experience is a bonus
- Bonus: familiarity with accessibility standards (WCAG), service design, or experience in health or aged care tech
Why Join Aunty Grace?
