Within the internship, you will experience the daily work associated with clinical data science and support related activities, such as the planning of statistical analyses, dataset and analysis programming, and interpretation of analyses.

You will gain an insight into the following topics and areas of activities:

During your internship, you will have the chance to explore innovative techniques for clinical designs, data transformation, statistical programming, and data analysis. Tasks can include:

  • Conduct research and literature reviews to stay updated on the latest techniques and methodologies in clinical design, statistical programming, and data analysis
  • Assist in the development and implementation of innovative statistical approaches to enhance data analysis in clinical development
  • Apply statistical techniques to analyze and interpret clinical trial data, providing insights and recommendations for decision-making
  • Develop and implement data transformation methods to optimize data quality and usability
  • Develop and maintain programming code and scripts to automate data processing and analysis tasks
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to analyze and interpret clinical trial data


Your Profile:

  • Student in at least the 4th semester of (Bio-)Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science or related fields
  • Good knowledge of statistical methodology and basic knowledge of design of clinical trials, medical terminology, and processing clinical trial information
  • First hands-on experience in relevant software languages, like R and SAS, with a willingness to apply these tools to both data science and biostatistical challenges
  • Excellent analytical skills and solution-oriented working style as well as high willingness to learn and apply biostatistical concepts
  • Reliability, intrinsic motivation, commitment, and a strong team player with an ability to work collaboratively with experts in clinical development
  • Fluency in written and spoken English


What we can offer you:

  • As a student intern, you can expect a fair expense allowance (payment of the currently valid minimum wage)
  • You will be given 2.5 days of paid time off for every full month of the internship
  • A full-time internship is 37.5 hours a week (a smaller number of hours can be arranged)


The duration of the internship is 4 to 6 months. The start of the internship can be made several times a year. Please enter the desired period in your application.
