Product Owner - Health, Life and Savings
Based in Luxembourg
Initial 6 month contract, highly likely to extend.
Our client, an global insurance client has created a transformation department in Luxembourg, they have implemented a new project execution methodology and governance. Due to the new Governance they have identified the need of a Business Product Owner. Within this role, you will need to ensure that the user stories meet the customer requirements, acting as a main point of contact on behalf of the customer or line of business in order to identify the product requirements for the development team. You will also be responsible for managing and optimising the product backlog to maximise the products value and to facilitate the communication and organisation within a team. This role will sit within the business team, working on project execution.
The additional responsibilities will include:
Define the Vision of the Solution (Product Vision) and Overall Roadmap:
- Have a clear perspective on customers and Life of Business’ goals and objectives.
- Maintain a deep understanding of the competitive landscape, emerging trends, and new technologies that may impact the product's success.
- Define and manage the product vision and strategy based on customer and stakeholder needs and market research supported by the Customer team.
- Have adequate market and industry experience, not just to understand, but also to anticipate customer needs.
- Understand the customer requirements from a journey lifecycle perspective.
- Ensure that the product is compliant with all relevant regulations and standards, and managing any legal or ethical considerations related to the product
- Creates the overall Road map of the product by prioritising features considering business and customer requirements.
- Be actively involved in the product development process.
Define and prioritise Product Backlog and build Development Stages:
- Create and prioritise a product backlog that aligns with the product vision and goals and continuously refine it based on feedback and changing business needs.
- Liaise and monitor each phase of the product development cycle. At each iteration, the Product Owner must be a part of the product development review and suggest any changes or improvements on behalf of the customer.
- Ensure the product backlog items are clearly defined, well understood, and properly estimated by the development team.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams (e.g., developers, designers, marketers, and quality assurance) to ensure that the product meets customer needs.
- Make tough decisions on what features to include in each sprint or release, based on the value they will deliver to customers and the business. The role of the product owner is to maximise the value addition
- Create the first list of backlog. Following this activity, there must be proper prioritising of the backlog based on urgency and criticality of the requirements. The proper sequence of development also needs to be appropriately charted out.
- Update the backlog list. As the products’ needs change and evolve, the backlog list also needs to be continually updated. The product backlog must be made available to all the stakeholders since it is dynamic and subject to many changes.
Be the business primary point of contact:
- Acting as the primary point of contact for all stakeholders (e.g. customers, partners, executives, and other departments) on matters related to the product.
- The product owner must address any queries from the development team regarding key user requirements.
- Continuously monitoring the product's performance and gathering feedback from customers and stakeholders, using data-driven insights to make informed decisions and prioritise future improvements.
Communication and Governance
- Demonstrate leadership and ownership of the product, and inspire others to share and contribute to the product vision and goals.
- Evaluate the work done by the development team and provide constant feedback.
- The Product Owner must ensure that the product backlog is communicated clearly to all team members.
- take the initiative and be a part of sprint review meetings while identifying areas of improvement
Experience Required:
- Must have experience working within the Insurance sector. Ideally have working within a health, life and savings line of business.
- Minimum of 5 years experience in either Project Management, Product Owner or Business Analysis
- Strong experience in process management and process reengineering.
- Ability to understand and interpret customer requirements with the ability to communicate in technical language.
- Must have knowledge in project management methodologies to include hybrid and agile methodology.
- Knowledge of IT solutions used within the Insurance sector
- Experience in leading multi disciplinary teams and managing the performance of external service providers.
- Must speak both French and English at a business level.
