Role Overview:
The Senior Network Engineer is positioned within the Connectivity Services team, which is a key component of the Infrastructure and Collaboration Services division. The primary focus of this role is to design, implement, and provide Level 2 support for secure, robust, and cost-effective network solutions that align with the organisation’s business needs.
This team manages all aspects of Wide Area Network (WAN) connections linking the company’s branches, regional headquarters, and data centers, along with the Local Area Network (LAN) and Wireless LAN (WLAN) setups at these locations, including network access control and remote access services.
The company’s IT operations follow an Agile methodology, fostering a dynamic environment where teams and individuals are given autonomy to take ownership of their technical areas, encouraging continuous improvement and self-management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide Level 2 support for the designated network scope.
- Translate the organisation's business requirements into corresponding IT solutions.
- Oversee and monitor squad assets using standard monitoring tools.
- Diagnose and resolve incidents related to squad-specific technologies, ensuring timely follow-up through tools like ServiceNow (SNOW).
- Log incidents with external providers and track their resolution.
- Deploy new network topologies and devices in accordance with established change management procedures.
- Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation.
- Ensure that new solutions integrate seamlessly with existing network infrastructure.
- Align all solutions with established network management processes and tools.
- Create and validate low-level design documentation.
- Carry out asset management tasks for assigned network components.
Required Skills/Experience:
- Proven track record of experience in network engineering integration.
- Configure and troubleshoot Cisco routing, switching, wireless topologies, and related hardware.
- Develop and maintain up-to-date technical documentation and asset inventories.
- Configure and resolve issues with Wi-Fi networks, including troubleshooting wireless protocols.
- Analyse and resolve complex network problems with effective solutions.
- Possess in-depth knowledge of network monitoring tools and troubleshooting techniques.
- Be familiar with tools related to configuration management.
- Have a solid understanding of service operations, including service level agreements (SLA) and key performance indicators (KPI).
