About the role:

We are searching for a self-motivated, solution-oriented and experienced Senior Staff Software Engineer (Decentralised Systems) to join our Affinidi Elements team. In this role, you will work with global peers on teams dedicated to areas of the product portfolio, from the product, design, infrastructure, architecture, and back/front-end engineering teams. You will be responsible for architecting a multi-component platform, where your expert skills in designing, architecting, and building quality systems will intersect with your leadership skills of building high performing team culture and growing your team members.

• Collaborate with Product and other Engineering stakeholders to architect customer focused systems
• Raise the bar for engineering excellence through mentoring, code reviews and workshops
• Guide the team to build secure, well-tested, and performant services
• Monitor reliability and operational metrics and suggest improvements to tests or monitoring tools
• Identify the most critical improvements to product quality, security, and performance and advocate for them
• Collaborate in building the product and technology roadmap with peers, product managers, designers and stakeholders
• Design solutions that solve technical problems with large scope and complexity
• Lead by example and drive complex technical solutions by preparing POCs or contributing to the codebase
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and peers on larger projects
• Collaborate with peers and Engineering stakeholders to improve internal standards for code style, maintainability, and best practices for a high-scale systems environment
  
  

You will be a great match if you:

• Have 12+ years of experience in software development
• Can diagnose and prevent performance and optimization issues effectively
• Have experience implementing Platform as a Service (PaaS) solutions
• Bring strong expertise in asymmetric cryptography in production environments
• Are passionate about decentralized technology and unlocking data ownership through innovative methods
• Have excellent technical documentation skills (C4 Model, Architectural Decision Records)
• Are proficient in JavaScript, TypeScript, Node.js, and React, with familiarity in other languages like C#, C++, GoLang, or Rust
• Have cloud computing and native environments expertise (AWS serverless preferred)
• Understand design patterns and have a proven track record of leading cloud-based microservices design and deployment
• Are hands-on with REST APIs and apply Test Driven Development (TDD) effectively
• Care about privacy by design, security, high-performance systems, and enjoy mentoring others
• Communicate clearly and value inclusion, visibility, and collaboration
• Thrive in a fast-paced startup environment, working autonomously across the stack
