Industrial Designer Wanted – Sculptural Kinetic Floor Lamp Prototype

We’re looking for an Industrial Designer who thinks beyond traditional lighting—someone who sees products as an opportunity to create living, interactive sculptures. This project is about more than just illumination; it's about motion, light, and form working together to create a dynamic, immersive experience.

This 6-foot-tall Sculptural Floor Lamp Will Feature

A fluid, curved structure encasing the light source.

A semi-transparent biomimicry-inspired membrane, allowing a glimpse inside while softly diffusing light.

A glowing power cord that visually represents the movement of electricity.

A subtle kinetic element, introducing gentle, hypnotic motion when the lamp is turned on.

We want this piece to feel alive, effortlessly blending organic aesthetics with futuristic design.

What You’ll Be Doing

Translate the concept into a detailed 3D CAD model (Fusion 360, Rhino, or SolidWorks).

Engineer a kinetic component that introduces subtle, mesmerizing movement.

Develop a structurally sound, freestanding design that works at 6 feet tall.

Ensure soft, even light diffusion without harsh shadows.

Select materials and production methods that maintain the balance between sculptural art and functional product.

Who You Are

• 5+ years of experience in industrial or product design.
• Highly skilled in 3D modeling and CAD software.
• Comfortable designing organic, sculptural forms with modern materials.
• Familiar with lighting integration, structural balance, and kinetic elements.
• (Bonus) Experience with motion-based or kinetic sculpture design.
