Who and what are we looking for?

We are seeking a talented Finance Data Analyst to join our team. As an Intern in finance Data Analysis, you will collect, analyse, and interpret complex data sets to extract valuable insights and support data-driven decision-making processes. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify business requirements, design data models, and generate reports contributing to organizational growth and success.

 

Main tasks & responsibilities:

  • Data Collection and Preparation:
  • Gather and collect data from various sources, ensuring data integrity and accuracy.
  • Cleanse, transform, and format data to ensure consistency and usability.
  • Develop data acquisition and data quality assurance processes.


  • Data Analysis and Interpretation:
  • Apply statistical analysis techniques to explore and interpret large datasets.
  • Identify trends, patterns, and correlations in data to uncover insights and opportunities.
  • Perform advanced analytics, such as predictive modeling and segmentation, to support business goals.
  • Financial Analysis:
  • Conduct in-depth analysis of financial performance, including profitability, expense management, and cash flow analysis.
  • Analyze financial trends and variances to provide actionable insights and recommendations.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning efforts.


  • Data Visualization and Reporting:
  • Create visually appealing and informative reports, dashboards, and presentations.
  • Communicate complex data findings and insights clearly and concisely to stakeholders.
  • Develop interactive data visualizations to facilitate data exploration and understanding.


  • Business Intelligence and Decision Support:
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business needs and requirements.
  • Conduct ad-hoc analyses and provide data-driven recommendations to support decision-making.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and provide insights to drive operational improvements.


  • Data Governance and Compliance:
  • Ensure data privacy, security, and compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Establish data governance frameworks and best practices.
  • Maintain documentation of data processes and procedures.
  • Able to travel to project sites if required for data collection and management.


  • Reporting:
  • Generate periodic financial reports, including variance analysis and key financial metrics for senior management.
  • Create custom reports for business units, providing data-driven insights to aid decision-making.
  • Develop financial models for scenario analysis, profitability analysis, and what-if simulations.



Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in  Finance, Mathematics, Economics, Data Science, or a related field. A master's degree is a plus.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools such as Python, R, SQL, or similar programming languages.
  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, Excel or similar platforms.
  • Familiarity with statistical analysis techniques and predictive modeling.
  • Knowledge of data cleansing, transformation, and preparation techniques specific to forestry, agriculture, or horticulture data.
  • Ability to interpret and communicate complex data findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders in forestry, agriculture, or horticulture domains.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills to handle multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and collaborate with stakeholders from various departments.
  • Experience with data governance, data quality, and data management principles is desirable.
  • Familiarity with machine learning concepts and algorithms is a plus.

  • Ideally, this role is full-time, but we're also open to a part-time arrangement with flexible hours, set at 32 hours per week and defined working days.
