Platform Engineer Observability

How do you make our customers happy?

As a Platform Engineer on Team Insights, you’ll build and maintain the observability infrastructure that enables our engineering teams to deliver reliable, high-performance applications. Your work ensures platform stability, even during peak moments when we process hundreds of orders per minute. By providing robust monitoring, logging, and metrics capabilities through our ELK stack and Prometheus/Grafana , you empower engineers to identify and resolve issues before they affect customers or partners.

Scaling observability solutions while enhacing our monitoring architecture. You’ll need to maintain critical services during the transition while improving the developer experience. Because you thoroughly understand the engineering needs across the organization, you can effectively translate plans into solutions that deliver measurable value.

What You'll Do As Platform Engineer Observability

As part of our six-person Team Insights, you’ll drive the evolution of bol’s observability platform. Working closely with our Product Manager and Engineering Manager, you’ll shape the logging and metrics infrastructure that application teams rely on for debugging, troubleshooting, and monitoring. You’ll take ownership of critical components of our ELK stack (logging solutions) and Prometheus/Grafana (metrics), ensuring they meet the demanding needs of a high-traffic retail tech platform.

You’ll lead initiatives, designing and implementing observability solutions that leverage GCP’s capabilities while maintaining compatibility with existing tooling. A holistic approach to architecture decisions is a must because you need to balance immediate needs with long-term scalability. By collaborating closely with application teams, you’ll continuously refine our solutions to improve usability and effectiveness.

The scope spans mature, business-critical systems that process vast amounts of daily logs and metrics. You’ll optimize pipelines, enhance visualization capabilities, and integrate with alerting systems to ensure engineering teams can quickly respond to anomalies. Your technical expertise will help set standards for observability practices across the organization.
