About the Role

Our client is seeking a Machine Learning Engineer for a groundbreaking AI-driven project in Dubai. This freelance position offers a unique opportunity to work on mission-critical systems with global scale, building AI-native products that truly matter.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect and deploy scalable machine learning pipelines (feature engineering, training, validation, deployment, monitoring)
• Research, experiment with, and implement state-of-the-art ML models (transformers, diffusion models, self-supervised learning, RLHF, etc.)
• Own end-to-end model lifecycle — from idea to model serving in production (fast iteration, zero manual steps)
• Fine-tune LLMs on proprietary datasets for domain-specific reasoning and generation tasks
• Collaborate with backend and MLOps engineers to build real-time inference APIs (milliseconds, not seconds)
• Optimize models for inference speed, memory, and scalability using ONNX, TensorRT, quantization, pruning
• Continuously evaluate model performance with statistical rigor, A/B testing, and bias/fairness analysis

Technical Skills

• 5+ years of hands-on experience in ML (ideally across multiple domains — NLP, CV, tabular)
• Strong proficiency in Python, PyTorch (or TensorFlow), Hugging Face, and scikit-learn
• Experience deploying models in production using FastAPI, Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines
• Proven track record with vector databases (FAISS, Pinecone, Weaviate) and embedding search
• Experience with data versioning and experiment tracking (MLflow, DVC, Weights & Biases)
• Deep understanding of ML theory (loss functions, regularization, optimization, evaluation metrics)
• Exposure to multi-GPU training, distributed systems, and model parallelism a big plus
• Bonus: Experience with LLM fine-tuning, LangChain, RAG, or custom GPT-style model builds

Other Requirements

• Dubai-based (hybrid or onsite) preferred
• Open to remote for exceptional candidates in the region (UAE, KSA, Qatar, Egypt, Lebanon)
• Highly competitive freelance rate or full-time salary
