Data Senior Project Manager // Financial Services

Our client is a Tier 1 client in the Financial Services sector. They are seeking a highly experienced and results-driven Senior Project Manager - Data to lead and manage critical data initiatives across their organization. This role will oversee the end-to-end delivery of complex data projects, ensuring alignment with business goals, managing cross-functional teams, and driving high-impact outcomes through structured project governance and agile practices.

Note: this is not a technical project manager role.

• Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of large-scale data projects, including data warehouse builds, data migrations, analytics platforms, and governance initiatives.

• Collaborate with stakeholders across business, data science, engineering, and IT to define project scope, objectives, timelines, and deliverables.

• Develop detailed project plans, manage budgets, allocate resources, and track milestones to ensure timely delivery.

• Identify and mitigate project risks and issues through proactive monitoring and resolution strategies.

• Ensure compliance with data privacy, security, and governance standards throughout the project lifecycle.

• Facilitate Agile/Scrum or hybrid project management methodologies, driving sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives where applicable.

• Report regularly on project status, KPIs, and health metrics to executive leadership and steering committees.

• Lead and mentor junior project managers and coordinators, promoting continuous improvement and best practices.
  
  

• 8+ years of project management experience, with at least 3+ years focused on data or analytics initiatives.

• Experience in Data migration or transition projects/programs

• Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

• Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, ambiguous, and collaborative environment.

• Experience working with cross-functional teams, vendors, and offshore resources.

• Experience in Banking - PREFERRED

• Familiarity with tools like Jira, Confluence, Smartsheet, or Microsoft Project.
