Network Engineer Responsibilities

  • Design and implement complex network solutions that meet the business requirements of our clients.
  • Install, configure, and maintain network equipment, including switches, routers, firewalls, and virtual private networks (VPNs).
  • Troubleshoot and resolve network-related issues, both proactively and reactively.
  • Monitor network performance and analyze network traffic, utilizing network monitoring tools to proactively identify and resolve potential issues.
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively with cross-functional teams, including technical and non-technical stakeholders, to ensure timely resolution of network-related issues.
  • Maintain network security by implementing various security protocols, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and access control lists.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation for all network-related processes, architectures, and solutions.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation for critical network incidents and issues outside of business hours.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field
  • 3+ years of experience working in network engineering or a related field
  • Expert-level knowledge of networking protocols, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and BGP
  • Proficient in the configuration and maintenance of Cisco, Juniper, and HP network equipment
  • Experience with network monitoring tools such as Wireshark, SolarWinds, or PRTG
  • Solid understanding of network security principles, including access control, firewalls, and intrusion detection systems
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work under pressure and in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to work independently
  • Industry certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or JNCIA are a plus

The ideal candidate should be highly skilled and experienced with networking protocols, configurations and troubleshooting. With a strong problem-solving skillset and excellent communication skills, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the timely resolution of network-related issues.
