UI Designer

Job Summary

You will be responsible for creating visually appealing and user-friendly interfaces for digital products, collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand user requirements and translate them into visually engaging designs. You will ensure consistency in visual elements, apply design principles, and contribute to the overall user experience, working closely with UX designers, developers, and stakeholders.

Job Objectives

Visual Design and User Interface Creation: Create visually appealing and engaging user interfaces that align with the brand identity, and target user preferences, and enhance the overall user experience
Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including UX designers, developers, and stakeholders, to ensure shared understanding and successful implementation of the design vision
Consistency and Branding: Maintain consistency in design elements, typography, and color schemes throughout the product to establish a cohesive brand presence

Job Responsibilities

Design & Development

Visual Design:

Create visually appealing and cohesive user interfaces that align with the brand identity and target user preferences
Collaborate with product management and engineering teams to define and implement innovative UI solutions
Execute all visual design stages from concept to final hand-off to engineering teams

Conceptualize original ideas that bring simplicity and user friendliness to complex design roadblocks
Layout and Typography: Create low fidelity wireframes, along with relevant typography, and color schemes of the UI to ensure a visually pleasing and functional design
Iconography and Graphics: Design icons and other visual elements to enhance the UI and improve the user interactions
Responsive Design: Ensure the user interface is responsive and optimized for different devices and screen sizes to provide a seamless user experience across all the platforms
UI Consistency: Ensure consistency in design elements, patterns, and interactions throughout the product to create a coherent and intuitive UI from mobile application to responsive web
Prototyping: Create interactive prototypes to demonstrate the visual design, transitions, and interactions within the user interface
Present and defend designs and key milestone deliverables to peers and executive level stakeholders

Documentation, Communication & Collaboration

UI Components: Develop and maintain UI component libraries and style guides to ensure consistency in design elements and facilitate efficient design implementation

Provide design documentation with design specifications, to assist development teams in implementing the user interface design accurately

Collaborative Approach:

Work closely with UX designers, developers, and stakeholders to ensure the visual design aligns with the user experience and project goals
Collaborate with project teams to create artwork for the platform that satisfies requirements and strategic messaging, and continues to raise the visual integrity of the user-experience, to drive user adoption and engagement
Support the Quality Control team to make sure features are implemented as intended

Job Requirements

Educational Qualification

Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field

Licenses & Certifications

Any of the following certifications, a plus:
Scrum Master
Google UX Design Professional
UI/UX Design Certification
Adobe Certified Expert (ACE)
Interaction Design Foundation (IDF)
Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) Certifications

Previous Work Experience

Experienced UI Designer with 5+ years of expertise in developing visually appealing user interfaces for web and mobile applications
Proven track record of collaborating with cross-functional teams to create intuitive and engaging interface designs, with 3+ years of experience
Skilled in creating wireframes, prototypes, and interactive mock-ups, gathering user feedback, and refining designs over 4+ years of experience
Proficient in implementing design principles and maintaining consistency in visual elements, typography, and color schemes, with 3+ years of experience
Strong communication and teamwork skills, having worked closely with developers to ensure seamless implementation of UI designs, backed by 4+ years of experience
Expertise in standard UX software such as Sketch, OmniGraffle, Axure, InVision, UXPin, Balsamiq, Framer, and the like is a must. Basic HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript skills are a plus

Skills And Abilities

Proficient in visual design tools such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator) and prototyping tools like Sketch or Figma
Demonstrable UI design skills with a strong portfolio
Solid experience in creating wireframes, storyboards, user flows, process flows and site maps
Proficiency in Photoshop, Illustrator, OmniGraffle, or other visual design and wire-framing tools
Strong understanding of user-centered design principles and ability to translate user requirements into intuitive and engaging interface designs
Experience in creating wireframes, prototypes, and interactive mock-ups to validate design concepts and gather user feedback
Experience in designing PowerPoint presentations and using slide master
Knowledge of front-end development technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) to collaborate effectively with developers
