About The Role

As a Senior Software Engineer within our Tracking Team, you will collaborate with a diverse and motivated group of team members. Your pivotal role will involve generating crucial insights to guide Zalando's business, which boasts over 50 million customers across 25 countries. This position requires close collaboration with cross-functional teams, including web and backend engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders. What We'd Love You To Do (and Love Doing)

• Join an agile and seasoned full-stack engineering team dedicated to building Zalando's Customer Data Platform.
• Design, construct and upkeep microservices utilising cutting-edge technologies like Java, Nakadi and Kubernetes.
• Ensure a state-of-the-art software development methodology.
• Contribute to the growth of your colleagues’ technical skills by sharing your knowledge.
• Collaborate with various teams and stakeholders, each with different backgrounds and a broad spectrum of competencies.
• Consulting with engineers, analysts, data scientists, and product managers to build and continuously improve "Single Source of Truth" data products that create value for their users.
  
  
  
  

WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR

• You have at least 5+ years of experience as a software engineer, demonstrating proficiency in Java or other JVM based languages.
• You have data engineering experience working with Apache Spark or Databricks. Knowledge of additional Big Data technologies like BigQuery, Kafka or other streaming applications is a plus.
• You know and understand how to design, develop and operate large scale distributed systems, microservices on cloud infrastructure (preferably AWS with Kubernetes).
• You are an advocate for agile processes, operational excellence, and coding best practices such as clean code, readability, and test-driven development.
