Your mission as a (Senior) Backend Developer
We are looking for a passionate (Senior) Backend Developer (m/f/d) to join our amazing backend team. In this role, you will be responsible for developing new features and enhancing our existing code base using NodeJs, Express, and MongoDB.

Your mission as a (Senior) Backend Developer
We are looking for a passionate (Senior) Backend Developer (m/f/d) to join our amazing backend team. In this role, you will be responsible for developing new features and enhancing our existing code base using NodeJs, Express, and MongoDB.
What you’ll be doing
- Design and maintain server-side applications and database architecture.
- Collaborate with front-end developers for a seamless user experience.
- Regularly review and improve code and system efficiency.
- Develop and deploy reusable, testable code and automated tests
- You have at least 3 years of hands-on experience with Node.js, along with strong proficiency in TypeScript and Express.
- You have practical experience working with NoSQL databases, preferably MongoDB.
- You have a solid understanding of object-oriented programming principles.
- You hold a degree in Computer Science or a related field – or have completed a comparable vocational training
- Having AWS (S3, ECS, EC2), Docker and Terraform experience is a plus
- You are a proactive problem solver, always seeking innovative solutions and continuously improving processes.
- You are willing and able to get familiar with new systems.
- You are a team player and enjoy collaborating with cross-functional teams.
- You thrive in a collaborative environment, valuing team input and ensuring alignment with project goals.
- We work in small, agile product teams with lots of ownership and fast decision-making.
- You’ll collaborate with smart, driven, and genuinely nice people.
- We keep meetings to a minimum – focus time matters.
- We use a modern tech stack that supports us in building great products:
- Backend: Node.js (TypeScript), Express, MongoDB, AWS, Docker, Terraform
- Frontend: Angular, Flutter
- Tools we love: GitHub, ClickUp, Slack
- Flexibility Policy - Our flexibility policy means there is no hard cap on the number of vacation days you can take.
- Work-from-anywhere Policy - If you're based in the EU, you can work outside your country of residence for up to 180 days per year.
- All the hardware you need and your own MacBook
- If you are located in Hamburg or Berlin, you'll get a Deutschland ticket or access to a mobility budget with the NAVIT app to get you to and from the office space.
- If you are located in Germany or Spain, you will have access to a Subsidised Urban Sports Club membership.
- In case you’re located in one of the cities where most of our fellow Appinioneers are (Hamburg, Berlin, Munich, London, Madrid, Barcelona, or New York), you can get access to our Co-working spaces.
