Software Engineer - Payment Cards (all genders)

THE ROLE & THE TEAM


As a Software Engineer at Zalando Payments you will build and operate systems that handle payment cards transactions. Together with other engineers at Payment Cards team you will ensure that at each processing step our services operate in a smooth and reliable way, starting with authentication and ending up with settlement. You will be able to drive new features implementation, contribute to improving the processes and bring new ideas and technologies to the team.

WHAT WE’D LOVE YOU TO DO (AND LOVE DOING)

• Drive business critical projects that influence payment cards processing and enable the growth of exciting new use-cases
• Design, develop, deploy, operate and improve software solutions with state of the art technologies
• Work with the product team and various stakeholders to understand business context
• Be part of an agile team taking ownership of the whole development cycle - from architecture and design to testing, implementation and maintenance

WE’D LOVE TO MEET YOU IF

• You have a deep understanding of microservice architecture, REST services, event based systems and API design in order to build scalable solutions.
• Have 3+ years developing with Java and Spring Boot framework.
• You have a good understanding of SQL (preferably PostgreSQL) and cloud architectures/platforms. Prior experience with AWS is a plus.
• You’re comfortable with following financial regulations (ZAIT, DORA, PSD2) in order to foster a safe and convenient payment experience for customers. Prior experience with card payments processing and knowledge of PCI DSS is a plus.
• You have strong communication and stakeholder management skills as well as the ability to manage projects with many dependencies.
• You work with the whole team to design better software and solutions while incorporating feedback and ideas from others throughout the solution design. You accept that the final design may differ from your own ideas and suggestions.
