Role Overview :

The Deployment & Maintenance Engineer at Derq plays a vital role in managing server configurations, overseeing deployments, and ensuring optimal system performance. This role is responsible for guaranteeing seamless functionality and upholding reliability and accuracy after deployment. Collaboration with cross-functional teams is essential to optimize infrastructure and deliver dependable solutions to clients.

In addition to deployment, you will work closely with the Systems team to gather feedback and optimise system configurations to ensure all systems are reliable and accurate. You will also monitor existing deployments and work with the System & DevOps team to improve system uptime and performance. You will play a key role in maintaining the quality and efficiency of our deployed systems.

Key Responsibilities:

• Configure and maintain Derq’s software for optimal performance.
• Swiftly resolve server issues to minimize downtime.
• Regularly execute software updates and patches.
• Ensure software configurations are consistent and compliant.
• Efficiently deploy and set up software on new hardware.
• Monitor software and enhance its performance.
• Identify and apply process improvements.
• Thoroughly document configurations and deployment status.
• Collaborate with development teams to ensure smooth integration.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering discipline such as Computer Science, Information
• Technology, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• 1+ years of experience in server configuration, maintenance, and deployment is preferred
• Basic knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., Python, Shell).
• Basic knowledge of networking protocols, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing, NAT, and port forwarding.
• Good problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
• Demonstrate a strong willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and processes.

Nice to Have:

• Understanding of hardware components and infrastructure.
• Previous experience with cloud platforms like AWS, GCP, Azure is a plus.
• Familiarity with virtualisation, containerization technologies and configuration management tools is beneficial.
