AI Engineer

Join a newly established team designing, building and operating AI-powered solutions in our Banking and Financial services group. This team is pivotal in our journey to empower Macquarie’s data science and AI capability at scale using cutting edge cloud technology.

What role will you play?

As an AI Engineer, you'll be at the forefront of developing and deploying innovative AI solutions. You'll take end-to-end ownership of your product in a modern DevOps culture. You'll be responsible for architecture, design, development, testing and operations and deliver incrementally in iterative cycles. You will have an Agile mindset and keen interest in software engineering across a range of technologies.

You will work in a multi-disciplinary team alongside our data scientists and engineers to build AI-powered solutions for our clients, as well as implement best practices to streamline the model experimentation, deployment, and monitoring of AI models. You will also be responsible for exploring and integrating emerging AI technologies, including Generative AI, to enhance our capabilities.

What You Offer

• 5+ years’ experience as a software engineer in an agile DevOps environment using an object-oriented development language (Java, Python)
• Experience across the full SDLC including design, build, test and supporting mission-critical production platforms
• Able to implement AI/ML best practices including CI/CD pipelines and model monitoring
• Demonstrated proficiency using cloud technologies and integrating with ML services including GCP Vertex AI, DataRobot or AWS SageMaker in large and complex organisations and experience with SQL and Python environments
• Experience with AI frameworks and tools (e.g., Langchain, Semantic Kernel, TensorFlow, PyTorch).
• Commercial or side project experience in one or more of the following technologies or related technologies: Anthropic Claude, Llama, LiteLLM, Cursor, windsurf / Codeium, VO Vercel, Continue, Aider, Cline, Langchain, Langgraph, Hugging Face
• Previous experience and familiarity with cloud technologies and architectural practices to enhance tooling across the AI model development lifecycle
• Knowledge of architectural patterns, cloud-native solutions on AWS & Azure, microservices architecture, solutions integration and containerisation.
