OVERALL POSITION OBJECTIVE

The Network Engineer – Seeking a role where my extensive experience in the operation and maintenance of IP/MPLS equipment and other networking devices can be leveraged to strengthen and optimize the company’s network infrastructure. I thrive in fast-paced, challenging environments and have a strong passion for telecommunications. In this role, you will be:

  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex network issues related to IP/MPLS implementation.
  • Work on EWO & PTW JIRA Tickets and implement solutions as per Helix EO (Engineering Order).
  • Lead implementation of new site builds from an IT Network perspective.
  • Create High-Level Design (HLD) and Low-Level Design (LLD) documents as per the Scope of Work (SOW).
  • Prepare Optus fortnightly, monthly, and weekly reports using JIRA tickets.
  • Develop Request for Proposal (RFP) documents for Optus IPNE and Telstra WNI projects.
  • Commission and decommission network elements, ensuring smooth integration into existing infrastructure.
  • Upgrade IOS versions to prevent system vulnerabilities and bugs.
  • Install, configure, and maintain network devices, including routers and switches.
  • Conduct capacity planning and enhance link capacity for critical NOC elements.
  • Ensure all network designs meet quality standards based on process guidelines.
  • Drive best practices aligned with company frameworks and industry standards.
  • Maintain high-quality service delivery to customers and stakeholders.



Key Accountability

Description

Network Implementation

Ensure seamless implementation of critical network elements such as routers, switches, and firewalls in accordance with the Method of Procedure (MOP).

Integrate newly deployed devices into the existing network infrastructure, configuring essential services across all core network elements. This includes gathering customer design requirements and developing solutions aligned with available and required network capacity, covering aspects such as router port allocation, bandwidth planning, port assignments, and the design and deployment of Ethernet/IP networking protocols (e.g., BGP, VLANs, redundancy via LAG groups, VRRP), along with ACI integration.

Demonstrate deep expertise in dynamic routing protocols, including ISIS, OSPF, and BGP, as well as MPLS Layer 2 and Layer 3 VPN technologies.

Possess hands-on experience with key network infrastructure components, including routers, switches, and various telecommunications systems.

Proficient in using network management and support tools, such as JIRA ticketing systems, Helix EO, and various network reporting platforms.

Experienced in network migration and large-scale service implementation, including the preparation, verification, and validation of complex network designs.


Provide technical support to the team, ensure daily/weekly/monthly volume targets are consistently achieved, and handle documentation and preparation of Root Cause Analysis (RCA) reports.

Ensure designs meets quality requirements based on Process document and guidelines

Ensure improved performance & quality service delivery on weekly/monthly basis

Drive best practice in line with company Framework and Best Practices

Ensure the provision of consistently high-quality services to our customers;

Work effectively as part of the team, with both internal and external key stakeholders.

Key Behaviours, Skills and Experience

Bachelor of Engineering Graduation

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Deliver excellent cost-effective designs

Exposure in the TPG-T Optus and Telstra network arena

Proficient in MS suite, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and SharePoint

Ability to analyze network issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement resolutions.

Strong understanding of network security, firewalls, and VPN configurations.

Ability to prioritise tasks

Strong time management skills

Previous experience in a similar role (or) having hands-on experience on above mentioned systems
