Software Development Technical Lead

As a Software Development Lead you will oversee a team of engineers working onshore and offshore to design, build and support features and functionality of applications with the aim of providing best-in-class experiences for our users.

You will collaborate with product and engineering managers and teams to scope, architect and execute key features/enhancements across the full stack which will reshape how our users access products and services.

This role demands a deep understanding of microservice architectures implemented in Java and Spring Boot, and AWS cloud services.

Responsibilities

• Work effectively within a multidisciplinary team of developers / engineers in a leadership role.
• Collaborate with enterprise and domain architects, and development teams to ensure architectural alignment.
• Own one or more products; add new features, resolve bugs, and refactor / improve code base.
• Identify technical requirements in product meetings and guide the team through planning and feature development; translate product requirements into functional, maintainable, extensible software that is in-line with company objectives.
• Take ownership of new products / features from development through to deployment.
• Identify and write automated developer tests for new features and update existing tests as needed, and the support the team to do the same.
• Collaborate with other Developers / Engineers to identify the best way to implement features.
• Work with colleagues to develop test plans / strategies.
• Assure the quality of all output of your team, including all code, executables and documentation.
• Drive constant improvement in the output of the team.
  
  

Qualifications

• BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related subject
• Cloud certifications an advantage
  
  

Essential Skills

• Java, Spring Boot
• Microservice architectures
• AWS cloud services, including Glue
• DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines
• Demonstrated ability to write application code, and review code for quality and architectural alignment
• Excellent client-facing skills

Experience

• A successful history working with offshore teams of software development professionals.
• Several years of experience of developing full stack applications using Java and Spring Boot
• Understanding and experience implementing microservice architectures and best practices using Spring Boot and Kubernetes
• Proficiency in cloud platforms (AWS)
• Experience designing and building data pipelines, utilizing data streams and AWS Glue
• Experience with event-driven architectures and message brokers
• Ability to create technical design specifications including API specifications for business requirements and product features
• Experience with front-end development using a technology such as React or Angular
• Strong understanding of relational databases and proficiency with a relational DB.
• Understanding of application architecture and DevOps principles.
• Problem-solving skills and debugging ability.
• Flexible and self-driven with a collaborative approach to problem solving.
• Knowledge of revision control and code review tools like Git, etc.
