Organizational Setting
The Department of Nuclear Safety and Security (NS) formulates and implements the IAEA's nuclear safety and security programme, which encompasses the Agency's activities to protect people and the environment from radiation exposure and responds to the needs of its Member States related to nuclear safety and nuclear security.
The Division Of Nuclear Security (NSNS) Is Responsible, Upon Request, For Establishing, Coordinating And Implementing The IAEA's Nuclear Security Programme To Protect Against, Detect And Respond To Nuclear Security Events And Threats Thereof. NSNS Comprises Four Sections:
Main Purpose
The Purpose Of The Consultancy Assignment Is To Provide Technical Expertise To The NSNS Information Technology (IT)-team By Contributing As a Team Member To:
i) define requirements, support the design and deployment of new tools, and maintain existing systems to enhance functionality, efficiency, and user engagement.
ii) facilitate the integration of AI and machine learning capabilities into the Division's processes and systems, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and data management goals.
iii) act as a liaison between stakeholders to improve business processes, ensure effective adoption of IT solutions through user acceptance testing and training, and create comprehensive documentation and training resources to support user adoption and operational continuity.
Functions / Key Results Expected
To fulfil this role the consultant will be required to:
i) deliver detailed documentation of business processes and optimized workflows to support the integration of AI and machine learning into NSNS operations.
ii) develop comprehensive software and system requirement documents, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and stakeholder needs.
iii) conduct user acceptance testing (UAT) and provide reports to validate the functionality and effectiveness of implemented IT solutions.
iv) prepare user manuals, training guides, and operational IT tools, ensuring successful adoption and ongoing maintenance of systems to enhance result-based management

The remuneration for this consultancy is a daily fee of up to a maximum of € 300, based on qualifications and experience. In case duty travel is required within the assignment, a daily subsistence allowance (DSA) and travel costs are provided. Health coverage and pension fund are the responsibility of the incumbent.

Skills And Expertise
- Concepts and solutions for data processing
- University degree in Business Administration, Analytics, Computer Science, or related fields.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience as a Business Analyst, preferably with exposure to AI and data-focused initiatives.
- CBAP (Certified Business Analysis Professional) or similar professional certification an asset.
- Proficiency in SQL and Power BI or similar analytics tools.
- Fluency in written and spoken English. Knowledge of other official AEA languages (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish) an asset.
