Senior IT Administrator and Project Manager

FRMSc is seeking an experienced Senior IT Administrator with a background in Azure hosting, server management, security, and documentation. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining and enhancing our organisation's IT infrastructure, ensuring the reliability, security, and efficiency of our systems hosted on the Azure platform. This will include facilitating day-to-day operations. The successful candidate will work with our Lead Developer and Senior Management to assure robust IT service in support of our biomathematical fatigue models and associated software products.

This individual will be responsible for ensuring the IT infrastructure is safe and secure and overseeing server operations, implementing security measures, and maintaining comprehensive documentation to support our IT environment.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Azure Hosting and Administration:

• Support all aspects of Azure hosting, including virtual machines, storage, and networking.
• Implement and optimize Azure services to meet organisational requirements.
• Monitor and troubleshoot issues related to Azure infrastructure to ensure high availability and performance.
• Undertake Azure vulnerability assessments

2. Server Management:

• Administer and maintain App Service and virtual machines.
• Plan and execute server upgrades, security updates, patches, and migrations.
• Undertake vulnerability scanning
• Collaborate with development and operations to ensure seamless integration of server systems.
• Recommend new software and services to improve IT infrastructure and/or cost base

3. Security Implementation:

• Develop and implement security policies, procedures and SIEM technology to safeguard the organisation's IT infrastructure
• Conduct regular security assessments and audits to identify and address vulnerabilities and report to senior management
• Implement and manage security solutions, such as firewalls, antivirus, and intrusion detection systems.

4. Documentation and internal support

• Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for server configurations, security protocols, and IT processes and policies
• Ensure that documentation is up-to-date and readily accessible to the team.
• Maintain and improve company cloud file storage and internal wiki site
• Develop and enforce documentation standards to streamline IT operations.
• Lead company activities with external consultants to achieve ISO27001 and CE+ certification
• Provide general IT support to company personnel

5. Collaboration and Communication:

• Collaborate with other part of the company to understand business needs and provide effective IT solutions.
• Communicate technical information to non-technical stakeholders in a clear and understandable manner.

6. Support & Sales

• Support business development activities in technical pre sales activities including completion of RFP/Q documentation relating to the server architecture and security.
• Provide 2nd line technical support to customers to check for disruption to servers or components in Azure 

7. IT Project Management

• Effective project management of internal IT/software development products
• Scheduling, allocating and tracking of project activities across the team
• Lead project management progress meetings

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
• Proven experience as a Senior IT Administrator with a focus on Azure hosting and security.
• Understanding of Azure services, virtualization, and server administration.
• Strong understanding of IT security best practices and experience implementing security measures.
• Excellent documentation skills with a keen attention to detail.
• Relevant certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate, Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), or equivalent.

Skills and Abilities:

• Proficient in Azure DevOps, Health Monitoring and App Service
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong experience in agile or scrum methodologies
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrable experience of managing IT/software development projects
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team and independently when necessary.
• Ability to prioritise work tasks and occasionally work to tight deadlines
• Up-to-date knowledge of industry trends and emerging technologies.

Location

• UK-based.
• Remote working with the requirement for occasional travel to company meetings.
