Cyber Security Specialist

Job Description

As Barikat Group we are seeking a skilled Cyber Security Specialist to provide support for system administration and firewall management in a dynamic, multi-domain environment for our client in Belgium. The role involves ensuring the secure operation and availability of systems, maintaining and updating firewall configurations, and providing multi-channel support across various internal teams. This position is initially for 6 months, with potential extensions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide multi-channel support (phone, email, internal chat) for resolving security-related tickets and system administration tasks.
• Develop and maintain a repository of scripts to automate recurring systems administration tasks.
• Ensure correct logging and log forwarding configurations to support availability of system events in a central log database.
• Proactively provide system administration and maintenance to prevent system failures.
• Support system upgrades and patching during the designated maintenance windows.
• Update the configuration of firewall rules/policies based on evolving security requirements.
• Document system setup, configuration, and installation details in the GSS documentation repository.
• Attend internal meetings to demonstrate and familiarize the team with firewall systems.
• Collaborate with other administrative staff to resolve firewall-related configuration and policy issues.
• Maintain and update ticket activity records to ensure accurate tracking of ongoing tasks.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Official certifications in firewall management (e.g., PCNSA), network management (e.g., Network+), and service management (e.g., ITIL Foundation).
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in IT security, with a focus on Security Tools Management in large organizations.
• Experience in Palo Alto Networks Firewalls and Panorama for Enterprise level deployments, firewall installation and management of other vendors, scripting/automation (Bash, Python, Ansible), system monitoring and troubleshooting, network protocols, and traffic analysis.
• Demonstrable experience of analyzing and interpreting system, security, and application logs to diagnose faults and identify abnormal behaviors.
• Profound communication abilities, both written and verbal, with the ability to clearly articulate complex issues to a variety of audiences.
• Industry-leading certifications in Cybersecurity (e.g., CISSP, CISM, CISA, GSNA, SANS GIAC)
• Previous work experience in an international environment is also considered a plus.
