Project Manager (New Ship Building)

Requirements

  • Oversee the entire shipbuilding process, ensuring compliance with design specifications, contractual requirements, and classification society standards.
  • Coordinate daily activities and communication between project managers, site offices, and stakeholders.
  • Manage all projectphases in coordination with the Site Manager, includingplanning, construction, outfitting, commissioning, and sea trials, ensuringsmooth execution and timely delivery.
  • Establish and maintain the company’s Quality Management System (QMS), ensuring regular reviews and customer satisfaction through feedback analysis.
  • Lead staff meetings to address project challenges, identify solutions, and stay informed of industry developments that impact company operations.
  • Maintain regular contact with temporary site offices, conducting frequent visits to ensure alignment and progress.
  • Review and prepare project budgets, while planning for both short- and long-term human resource needs.
  • Ensure proper filing, archiving, and document control within the project for efficient management and compliance.
  • Establish robust processto analyze and reportnon-conformities, monitor issuednon- conformance reports (NCRs), and follow up on corrective actions to mitigate issues promptly.
  • Provide weekly and monthly project progress updates, ensuring detailed reporting as per company requirements.
  • Familiarize fully with project specifications, contracts, approved plans, and correspondence related to approvals and agreements.
  • Maintain an up-to-date overview of project status, keeping clients informed of progress and highlighting any situations requiring their attention
  • Assist clients and the in-houseship management teams during sea trials and vessel delivery, including coordination of documentation, drawings, and certifications.
  • Oversee, evaluate, and direct all site offices to ensure consistency and operational efficiency.
  • Develop business continuity and growth plans for the company.
  • Keep the CEO informed of critical project developments, identifying potential challenges and recommending solutions.
  • Promote customer-centric awareness and ensure organizational alignment with customer requirements.
  • Identify and resolve current and anticipated operational issues within the site teams, considering industry-wide perspectives.
  • Facilitate regular communication across the organization to understand and meet customer expectations, documenting discussions and sharing insights widely.
  • Ensure shipyard operations comply with ISO 9001, IMO, SOLAS, MARPOL,IGF Code, and other relevant regulatory standards.
  • Address safety and environmental concerns by implementing and enforcing best practices.
  • In coordination with the site management team supervise the installation and commissioning of dual-fuel propulsion systems (e.g., LNG, methanol), ensuring proper execution and compliance.
  • Oversee Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) and other criticalequipment inspections.
  • Maintain consistent communication with client, shipyards, classification societies, flag states and equipment manufacturers to ensure project alignment.
  • Act as the primary liaisonbetween shipyards, clients,plan approval teams, and subcontractors, fostering collaboration and trust.
  • Provide regular updates on project progress, risk assessments, and mitigation strategies to key stakeholders.
  • Attend site team meetings to address challenges, drive resolutions, and align on goals.
  • Manage multidisciplinary teams, including site managers and supervisors, by recruiting and allocating resources effectively.
  • Develop and monitor project budgetsto maintain financialdiscipline and cost control.
  • Proactively identify risks, prioritize mitigation measures, and ensure project execution remains on track.
  • Performs otherduties as assigned


Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience in successfully completing at least two (2) new shipbuilding projects,each lasting over one year.
  • A minimumof one project in a leadership role, demonstrating strong organizational and decision-making abilities.
  • Extensive experience in container ship construction and dual-fuel propulsion systems.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of classification society standards, IGF Code, and international maritime regulations.
  • Expertise in overseeing the installation and commissioning of dual-fuel systems,such as LNG or methanol.
  • Proficiency in shipyard operations, with a strong understanding of processes and best practices.
  • Ability to achieve exceptional results in high-pressure, fast-paced environments.
  • Proficient in MicrosoftOffice Suite (Outlook,Word, and Excel).
  • Exceptional attentionto detail, with a proven track recordof producing high-quality, accurate work.
  • Excellent presentation skills, with the ability to effectively conveycomplex ideas and information to diverse audiences.
  • Strong leadership, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills to drive successful project outcomes.
  • Outstanding problem-solving and decision-making abilities, even in challenging situations.
  • Prior experience workingin Chinese shipyards
