Digital Research Analyst - Sports

The ESPN Research team utilizes all facets of media research and internal analytics solutions (Nielsen, comScore, Adobe Analytics, etc.) as well as primary research to inform ESPN as well as the larger Walt Disney Company on how sports and specific sports content and products are performing and how the ESPN business can drive even greater consumption in the future.

The ESPN Research team is part of the larger ESPN Finance, Strategy and Research Group, a group of world-class professionals managing and analyzing all aspects of ESPN businesses and providing tactical insights that drive our businesses forward.

The Digital Analyst will be responsible for reporting, analyzing, and interpreting data related to the performance of ESPN’s Digital Products (ESPN.com, ESPN App, ESPN Fantasy, ESPN+, etc.). They will utilize a wide array of Digital data sources from 1st party analytics solutions and proprietary sources to understand the ESPN Digital user’s behaviors with The Walt Disney Companies Sports Products and services. This person should be naturally curious, thoughtful, a problem solver and the ability to handle multiple tasks at once. The individual should have some experience in Digital Analytics, Data manipulation and Data visualization. The analyst should feel comfortable communicating findings in written and verbal form to various clients across ESPN and Disney. The individual will have a passion for understanding the sports fan and the digital media industry. This position will report to the Manager, Digital Research & Analytics and collaborate closely with others in the group, as well as teams across the company including the Sports Product team, Data & Instrumentation and other Data & Analytics teams.

Responsibilities:


  • Analyze ESPN’s Digital Product performance with 1st party and 3rd party data
  • Create and maintain standard reporting and dashboards utilizing common data visualization solutions
  • Support Manager of Digital Research & Analytics in building analyses around ESPN Digital user behaviors, identifying trends and making recommendations
  • Be actively aware of Sports Media, direct-to-consumer, and Sports Betting business to develop actionable insights


Basic Requirements:


  • Minimum 1 year of experience web analytics, digital research or digital marketing
  • Must be proficient in Windows-based PC applications such as Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Basic knowledge of web analytics (e.g. Adobe Analytics, Google Analytics, etc.)
  • Basic knowledge of Data Visualization and business intelligence tools (e.g. Looker, Tableau and PowerBI)
  • Needs excellent writing skills, ability to handle multiple tasks, and display strong attention to details.
  • Collaborative nature and ability to work well in a team environment.


Preferred Requirements:


  • Knowledge of programming languages (e.g. SQL, Python and R)
  • Knowledge of survey research tools (e.g. Qualtrics)


Basic Education


  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience


Preferred Education


  • Degree in communications, marketing, mathematics, psychology or related field preferred.

The hiring range for this position in New York, NY is $65,800 to $82,200 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
